Year 5’s had their first Science Lab investigation were they learned how to separate materials. The objective given to these St. George Madrid primary students was to dissolve salt into the water and then separate the mixture by heating it with bunsen burners. The water evaporated, leaving behind salt crystals. Therefore learning that to make good salt crystals, the solution needs to become saturated. However, in this investigation, the solution was saturated when the salt was unable to dissolve into the water – it became cloudy, rather than clear.
They had a lot of fun visiting the secondary Science labs, special thanks to Ms. Thompson for her help!
