At St. George, we are the only British School of the Community that offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) Programme fully in English, with native teachers. This recognised international program entails a solid preparation to access any kind of university, either state or private university, Spanish or in any other foreign country.
As part of the IB Diploma Programme, besides the main subjects, each student must read a common core subjects program. Being CAS (“Creativity, Activity and Service”) one of the three essential elements in which the prestigious program is divided. It aims to involve students in a range of activities alongside their core academic studies, having as a result, not only the personal growth and development of skills such as collaboration, problem-solving and decision making, but also sense of accomplishment and enjoyment from their work.
Such was the case of one of the projects carried out by some IB Diploma Programme students from the school, in which they decided to organised a fantastic charity gala to raise funds in aid of El Sueño de Vicky, a non-profit organization that actively supports the investigation against childhood cancer.
The organization of the gala, held in José Luis restaurant at El Estudiante Club of Alcobendas, was in every moment in the hands of St. George students, who, with their dedication and effort, succeed in obtaining a great fund-raising for the cause. An exquisite night of moving speeches, with the disinterested collaboration of renowned companies, gastronomy pleasant with the music of a talented DJ, and raffles with lots of presents and surprises in which all the funds were entirely destined to El Sueño de Vicky foundation, a mother courage project that fights tirelessly for helping children with cancer supporting the investigation of this illness, its treatments and side effects in young kids.
We are very proud of the hard work carried out by St. George students, of their generosity, creativity and determination to contribute with their efforts so our society can be each day a little better.
