Last week, our Primary School students had a full day of fun lessons and activities to support their phonics and spelling learning.
From role-playing to a scavenger hunt, board games, mystery-solving, an escape room, and even hopscotch! Also, they came dressed in costumes or clothes that linked to this day. For example, the children could come as a knight and explain that this has the ‘igh’ sound, a ladybird which is a compound word, or dress in sparkly clothes as ‘ly’, a spelling suffix. In the end, some came as sounds, like queens for the ‘qu’ sound, or compound words, like some spiderman or sunflowers we had! Anything they wanted as long as they could explain it!
