After 2 years of hard work, the Year 13’s have finally come to the end of their course. There is no better way to do this than to put on a show of their best work. The exhibition is a 2 day internal event and is a part of the IB Visual Arts Course that is both internally assessed and externally moderated. Higher Level Students are required to produce a minimum of 8 pieces of art, name and label their work and finally, produce a rationale that discusses the decisions they have made in order to bring together these selected works and hang them in their chosen format.
All students have approached the 2 years in different ways, looking to explore the strands of ‘Nostalgia’, ‘Trauma’ and ‘Exploring Oneself’. Artwork ranging from Installation Art, Graphite Pencil and Oil Pastels has been produced and successfully exhibited.
This is an incredibly important period for the Year 13 IB Visual Art Students, for some this is an emotional time and for others a relief. For me, this is a goodbye to some of the first art students I met in St. George almost 5 years ago. It has been a pleasure to be able to see them mature and develop into the students they are today, regardless of the challenges they have faced during this journey. I look forward to welcoming them back during next year’s alumni event and excited to hear about their first steps into Higher Education.
