This year, the students of St. George’s School in Madrid embarked on an exciting adventure to the Castillo de Layos, a residential camp nestled in Toledo. The camp, founded in 1985, is a renowned centre for both national and international camps. Offering a blend of sports, nature, and English, Castillo de Layos has become a beloved destination for our children. The facilities are specifically designed for young learners, providing an optimal environment for outdoor activities and educational experiences.
Pablo López from Year 5 shared his reflections on the trip:
I’m excited to share my learning experience at Layos Toledo. The camp offers the chance to stay in the same room as your friends and participate in a variety of activities, from visiting a farm to playing padel, archery, and much more. Years 3 and 4 enjoyed activities such as bread baking, ping-pong, and necklace making. Meanwhile, Years 5 and 6 had their own set of adventures, including canoeing, climbing, golf, and dancing. Some activities were enjoyed by all age groups, fostering a sense of unity and shared experience.
One of the highlights for me was the zipline park. Although I have a fear of heights, climbing the zipline helped me build confidence. It was a challenging yet rewarding experience. Layos camp is one of the best experiences you can have. The combination of exciting activities, new experiences, friendships, and memories will last a lifetime. Additionally, I was able to embody our school values of responsibility, respect, personal best, resilience, and empathy throughout the trip.
If you’re looking for an unforgettable adventure, Castillo de Layos is the place to be.
